Artificial Intelligence Detects Road Hazards... Suwon City Introduces 'AI Road Detection System'

The city of Suwon in Gyeonggi Province has introduced an 'AI Road Detection System' that uses artificial intelligence (AI) to detect road hazards.

On the 22nd, Suwon City announced that it has started operating a system in which vehicles equipped with road analysis devices based on GPS and AI transmit real-time information on the type of road hazards, photos, and location data to the responsible department when potholes, road cracks, debris, and other hazards are detected while driving.

A vehicle equipped with AI is driving on the road while detecting hazardous materials.

The responsible department promptly carries out repairs based on the information identified through the AI Road Detection System.

Suwon City plans to use the AI Road Detection System to monitor the occurrence of road hazards by season and section. The collected data will be utilized when establishing road repair and management plans.

An official from Suwon City stated, "Previously, public officials patrolled roads to identify hazards, which was somewhat inaccurate and posed safety concerns. We will use the AI Road Detection System to take swift action before accidents occur."
