Gyeonggi-do Conducts 'Survey' on 30 Specialized Safety Inspection Agencies for Bridges and More
Gyeonggi Province will conduct on-site inspections of 30 safety inspection specialized institutions within the province from the 22nd of this month to the 10th of next month.
Safety inspection specialized institutions are organizations that perform safety inspections, diagnoses, and performance evaluations of facilities such as buildings and bridges in accordance with the "Special Act on the Safety and Maintenance of Facilities," and their registration and management are handled by the city and provincial governors.
There are 274 registered safety inspection specialized institutions in the province. These institutions inspect approximately 20,000 cases annually (as of 2023) involving buildings, bridges, retaining walls, rivers, tunnels, and more.
Among these, Gyeonggi Province has selected 30 companies that have not undergone on-site investigations since 2019 to focus on inspecting ▲illegal subcontracting ▲service performance by unqualified personnel ▲compliance with registration standards.
If any violations are found during the Gyeonggi Province on-site inspections, administrative actions such as correction orders, fines, and business suspension will be taken.
An Chi-kwon, Director of the Safety Planning Division of Gyeonggi Province, stated, "Concerns among residents continue due to facility aging and poor construction. To alleviate these concerns, Gyeonggi Province conducts regular annual on-site inspections of safety inspection specialized institutions to strive for a safer facility usage environment."
