Seongdong-gu to Host Carbon Neutrality Practice Event 'Hanappunin Jigu' on the 24th of This Month
Operating Eco-Friendly Experience Zones and Booths at Wangsimni Plaza
Seongdong-gu, Seoul (Mayor Jung Won-oh) will hold the "3rd One and Only Earth" event to promote a culture of carbon-neutral living at 10 a.m. on the 24th at Wangsimni Square.
The themes of this event include ▲Earth School (Eco-friendly Experience Zone) ▲Resource Exchange Center ▲Oneul Research Institute (Climate Promotion Zone) ▲Container Refill Station (Refill Station) ▲Carbon Zero Store (Pop-up Store), among six categories. Seventeen diverse experience and promotion booths will be operated for hands-on enjoyment, aiming to raise awareness of the climate crisis amid global warming and actively encourage eco-friendly practices in daily life.
"Earth School" is an eco-friendly experience program for various age groups, from children to adults. Activities include planting recycled pots with companion plants (carbon-absorbing plants), making emotional hanji paper from recycled milk cartons, creating ice pack air fresheners, making EM (Effective Microorganisms) kneaded soap, and crafting card cases from leftover leather.
At the "Resource Exchange Center," visitors can bring recyclable waste such as milk cartons, transparent PET bottles, and used batteries, which require separate disposal, and exchange them for recycled toilet paper or new batteries. This hands-on participation in waste separation aims to raise awareness of the value of resources.
The "Oneul Research Institute" exhibits various videos and photos on environmental themes and the Earth's crisis. It provides an opportunity to shift awareness so that individuals and households can take a leading role in environmental protection in their daily lives.
At the "Container Refill Station," visitors can refill eco-friendly household products such as detergents by bringing empty containers. This is expected to be an opportunity to reduce single-use products and experience value consumption. The "Carbon Zero Store" also features ingenious upcycled products.
For children, the protagonists of the climate crisis era, a playground will be operated. By allowing direct participation in recycling separation games and experiences generating eco-friendly energy with electric bicycles, the event aims to foster a culture of practicing carbon neutrality.
