Gijang-gun Intensively Promotes 'Right Turn at Intersections' Method... Leading the Way in Creating a Safe Traffic Culture
Production and Distribution of Promotional Flyers for Transportation Workers
Busan Gijang-gun is taking the lead in creating a safe traffic culture by intensively promoting the ‘right turn at intersections’ method.
Although one year has passed since the amendment of the Road Traffic Act mandated a full stop when making a right turn at intersections, many drivers still do not fully understand the revised law or are unaware of the amendment altogether.
Accordingly, the county has produced its own promotional materials to help drivers easily understand the amendments to the Road Traffic Act and is actively distributing them to local transportation workers to promote the ‘right turn at intersections’ method.
In particular, focused promotion will be conducted targeting city bus, village bus, and commercial freight transport workers who require special caution when making right turns.
Additionally, to prevent safety accidents in spring, the county plans to conduct safety management inspections of village buses (including Gijang-gun buses) in April and strengthen crackdowns on illegal parking at intersection corners to prevent pedestrian accidents.
County Governor Jeong Jong-bok emphasized, “Drivers must prioritize pedestrian protection,” and urged, “Residents should actively participate in creating a safe traffic culture where ‘people come before cars.’”
