Sinan-gun Assigns 33 New Public Health Doctors to 14 Eup and Myeon Areas
Efforts to Minimize Medical Gaps by Prioritizing Deployment in Medically Underserved Areas
Shinan-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Park Woo-ryang) announced on the 17th that it conducted job training for 33 newly assigned public health doctors (including 11 medical interns) on the 11th and completed their placement in 14 towns and townships.
The newly assigned public health doctors consist of 8 dentists, 8 Korean medicine doctors, and 17 medical interns. A total of 33 personnel were assigned: 31 to 17 health institutions, 1 medical intern to Shinan Daewoo Hospital, an emergency medical institution in a vulnerable area, and 1 Korean medicine doctor to Shinan-gun Public Nursing Hospital.
Including the existing doctors, a total of 56 public health doctors (23 medical doctors, 15 dentists, and 18 Korean medicine doctors) will be working in the jurisdiction.
A health center official stated, “We assigned two doctors each to five locations without medical institutions, such as Gageodo and Hongdo, to promptly respond to emergency patients occurring at night and on weekends. In particular, interns were prioritized for placement in Heuksan-myeon and Haewi-myeon, where emergency patients frequently occur, to minimize medical service gaps.”

Governor Park Woo-ryang said, “Due to Shinan-gun’s conditions, including a large elderly population, many medical blind spots, and insufficient medical infrastructure, the role of public health doctors is absolutely necessary to improve the quality of community medical services and promote residents’ health. I hope they will adhere to service guidelines with a sense of responsibility to prevent any medical service gaps and do their best in medical activities with the care of their own family in mind.”
