Anseong-si "Change to Non-disclosure of Real Names of Persons in Charge on Homepage"
Responding to Malicious Complaints... Employee Photos on Department Dashboard Also Deleted
Anseong-si, Gyeonggi-do has decided to make the names of staff members responsible for each task on the city hall website private in order to protect employees from malicious civil complaints.
On the 16th, Anseong-si announced that it has taken this measure to respond to malicious complaints that spread personal information of affiliated employees to an unspecified number of people. The city also added that it will remove employee photos from the staff information boards installed at the entrances of each department within the city hall.
This measure was taken to protect employees following the tragic death of a Gimpo City Hall employee in March who suffered from malicious complaints. The city aims to prevent the dissemination of personal information obtained from the city website and other sources to online group chats used by an unspecified number of people.
However, the city explained that the non-disclosure of staff real names is a temporary measure. A city official said, "This is intended to prevent incidents where employees' personal information is easily exposed to malicious complaints," adding, "We hope that the comprehensive measures against malicious complaints, currently being prepared jointly by the government, will be established soon so that such incidents no longer occur."
Earlier, on the 12th, the city also conducted a joint police simulation drill to prepare for unexpected situations that may occur in the civil service office within the city hall. The drill was conducted to protect civil service officers from verbal abuse and assault by malicious complainants, which have been occurring frequently recently, and to prevent secondary damage. The city plans to conduct emergency situation simulation drills for unusual complaints at 15 administrative welfare centers in the jurisdiction’s eup, myeon, and dong areas later this month.
