NSSC Approves Restart of Hanul Unit 6 14 Days After Automatic Shutdown
The Nuclear Safety and Security Commission announced on the 15th that it has completed the investigation of Hanul Unit 6 in Uljin, Gyeongbuk, and has authorized its restart.
Previously, on the 1st, Hanul Unit 6 automatically shut down due to a low steam generator water level.
According to the investigation, it was confirmed that the reactor automatically shut down as a result of a damaged signal line controlling the rotation speed of the main feedwater pump for the steam generator, which reduced the flow supplied to the steam generator.
Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power completed the maintenance of this signal line and established recurrence prevention measures, including a multiplex design for controlling the main feedwater pump speed.
