"Let's Eradicate Insurance Fraud"... Financial Supervisory Service and Insurance Industry to Support Police Investigation
Sequential Implementation at Police Agencies Nationwide from the 16th to 26th
The Financial Supervisory Service, the Life Insurance Association, the General Insurance Association, and related organizations announced on the 15th that they will hold an Insurance Crime Investigation Council this month with 18 city and provincial police agencies nationwide to efficiently support police investigations into insurance fraud.
The Investigation Council was organized to share information accumulated by the Financial Supervisory Service and others as the National Police Agency's National Investigation Headquarters plans to conduct a special crackdown on insurance crimes. They plan to exchange analysis results on recent insurance fraud trends such as organized insurance fraud involving hospitals and brokers, and intentional car collisions, and discuss region-specific tailored investigation support measures.
Additionally, they will discuss support measures to enable prompt investigation of cases referred by the Financial Supervisory Service for investigation on suspicion of insurance fraud. Since January last year, about 100 cases referred by the Financial Supervisory Service to the police are currently under investigation.
The council will be held sequentially at city and provincial police agencies nationwide from the 16th, starting with the Seoul Police Agency, Gyeonggi Southern Police Agency, and Gyeonggi Northern Police Agency, until the 26th. The Financial Supervisory Service, associations, the National Health Insurance Service, and the Korea Workers' Compensation and Welfare Service will participate.
