View original imageRegarding the 22nd general election, a member of the Chungnam Provincial Council is under investigation by the Election Commission for installing a specific candidate's banner on the day of voting, potentially violating the Public Official Election Act.
According to Asia Economy's report on the 15th, Councilor A is known to have installed a banner of People Power Party candidate Jang Dong-hyeok without permission on a roadside tree in front of the polling station in Pangyo-myeon, Seocheon-gun, at around 10:50 a.m. on the voting day, the 10th, and removed it an hour later.
Although election campaigning is prohibited on voting day, Councilor A's installation of Candidate Jang's banner has raised concerns about violating the election campaign period stipulated in the Public Official Election Act.
The Public Official Election Act stipulates that election campaigning is not allowed until the close of voting on election day.
In this regard, the Seocheon-gun Election Commission stated, "We are verifying the facts."

In a phone interview with Asia Economy, Councilor A said, "I did not know it was a violation of the Public Official Election Act. Supporters called and told me to move the banner, so I did, but after receiving a call from the Election Commission, I disposed of the banner."
