View original imageThe High-Power Load Control System is a system that supports maintaining a constant voltage in the power grid and supplying power stably by utilizing ultra-capacitors (UC), which are large-capacity energy storage devices. It is mainly used in large-scale power grids where voltage fluctuates rapidly depending on weather conditions such as wind and solar power generation.
LS Mtron is the first company in Korea to develop this system. Globally, it is the third after Germany and China. The company explained that the technology entry barrier is high because it is based on medium-to-large UC technology.
LS Mtron explained that as the scale of renewable energy generation grows, the demand for systems capable of handling megawatt-level power has recently increased. With rising demand mainly in Europe, including Germany, the market for high-power load control systems is expected to grow to 500 billion KRW by 2030.
The company emphasized the significance of this development as it has created an opportunity to preoccupy the related market. It also expects related sales to increase through the sale of control systems, which are high value-added products compared to single cells.
