Recruiting Around 5 New Center Operating Organizations
The Ministry of SMEs and Startups announced on the 15th that it is recruiting operating organizations to participate in the 'Specialized Support Center for Small Manufacturers' project.
This project operates regional hubs called 'Specialized Support Centers for Small Manufacturers' to revitalize small manufacturer clusters and support the growth and development of small manufacturers. It started in 2013, and as of April this year, 39 centers are operating nationwide.
Each center provides customized support projects for small manufacturers in the clusters, including ▲consultations related to small manufacturer support policies ▲provision of manufacturing workforce information ▲management and technical education and consulting ▲establishment of development plans for each cluster ▲specialized projects by region and industry.
This year, the scale of new center operating organizations to be selected is around five. Final selection will be made through a three-stage evaluation process including document review, on-site inspection, and presentation evaluation.
To apply and be selected, organizations must meet all of the following: ▲capabilities necessary to operate a specialized support center ▲a cluster size above a certain level ▲a non-profit organization related to small manufacturers ▲dedicated space and equipment ▲and an operating staff of three or more.
Won Young-jun, Director of the Small Business Policy Office, said, “The Ministry of SMEs and Startups aims to make 2024 the first year of a new leap forward for small manufacturers and to promote customized policies that respond to the demands of individual small manufacturers,” adding, “At the center of this is the Specialized Support Center for Small Manufacturers, which works closely with small manufacturers in each cluster to provide field-based support.”
