Gumi-si Meister Mentor Group, 'Talent Sharing' Volunteer Activity
Skilled Technicians Provide Electrical Wiring, Lighting Repairs, and Beauty Services in Hwangsan-ri, Goa-eup
On the 13th, the Meister Mentor Group of Gumi-si, Gyeongbuk, carried out talent-sharing volunteer activities with the participation of about 50 people, including mentor members, teachers and students from Gumi Electronics Technical High School and Geumo Technical High School, and officials from the Gyeongbuk Employers Federation.
The Meister Mentor Group conducts volunteer activities in rural villages every half year, and this first half of the year, they visited Hwangsan-ri, Goa-eup, where 123 households reside.
Various volunteer activities were carried out at each household, including electrical safety inspections, electrical wiring repairs, replacement of LED lights and outlets, wire organization, beauty services, and cleaning of senior centers and village halls. In particular, they carefully inspected electrical safety facilities by visiting homes of elderly people living alone or with physical difficulties to repair hazardous electrical issues.
Team leader Shim Il-seop said, “We will continue to build the Meister Mentor Group that gives back to the local community through talent donation.”
Yu Tae-ran, Director of the Labor Welfare Division, said, “We are grateful for the continuous volunteer work and talent donation for rural elderly people with skilled technology,” and added, “The city will also strive to create many opportunities for skilled technicians to engage in social contribution activities and to promote a positive perception of professional technicians.”

The Gumi-si Meister Mentor Group was founded in October 2013 and currently consists of 46 members, including Korea Masters, National Quality Masters, and top artisans of Gyeongbuk Province and Gumi City. To foster a social atmosphere where professional technicians are respected, they carry out various activities such as consulting for small and medium-sized enterprise technology support, industrial site tours for Meister high school students, career aptitude education, and community volunteer activities.
