Signing of a Business Agreement with Related Organizations for Foreign Residents
On the 12th, Changwon City in Gyeongnam Special City signed the ‘Changwon City-Foreign Resident Related Agencies Business Agreement’ to attract foreign residents and ensure their stable settlement in the region.

The agreement involved a total of nine institutions: Changwon City, Changwon Immigration Office, Changwon Employment and Labor Office, Changwon Office of Education, National Changwon University, Gyeongnam National University, Changshin University, Masan University, and Changwon Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Through this agreement, administrative efforts will focus on securing excellent foreign industrial manpower and enhancing mutual acceptance between local residents and foreigners through harmony.
The main contents of the agreement include △ joint cooperation on foreign resident support policies △ sharing policies to secure excellent foreign industrial manpower △ support for fostering foreign talents, employment linkage, and strengthening multicultural education △ cooperation to create a stable living environment for foreigners.
Kim Jaenam, head of the Changwon Immigration Office, said, “We will do our best to create a high-quality immigrant social integration environment based on orderly immigration.”
Hong Nampyo, mayor of Changwon Special City, said, “As foreigners are expected to be a key driver of future growth, it is now necessary to have professional residency management for stable local settlement. Taking this agreement as the first step, we will prepare policies for mutual acceptance and integration of locals and foreigners, promote coexistence with local residents, and make every effort to establish a virtuous cycle system that can contribute to regional development.”

Meanwhile, Changwon City plans to hold a meeting in April inviting working-level officials from each agreement institution and representatives of foreign residents to establish and promote effective foreign resident support policies.
