Gwangju Seo-gu Implements Hygiene Disinfection Support Project for Small Restaurants
Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Kim Ikang) announced on the 11th that it will carry out a hygiene disinfection support project for restaurants in the district to improve the hygiene level of restaurants and create a safe dining environment.
Seo-gu plans to conduct pest control for cockroaches and other pests that may occur inside restaurants, as well as disinfection of surrounding environments such as restrooms and storage rooms, up to five times a year with a maximum of 1 million KRW per business.
The support targets general restaurants handling meals that have been operating for more than six months after business registration, with preference given to small-scale restaurants under 100㎡ in Seo-gu and businesses participating in Seo-gu’s hygiene projects.
However, businesses that have received administrative sanctions such as business suspension within one year from the application date are excluded.
Applications can be submitted by visiting the Seo-gu Health Center’s Health and Hygiene Division in person or via email after checking the announcement and preparing the required documents on the Seo-gu Office website by the 26th.
Furthermore, selected restaurants must keep the hygiene disinfection certificate after disinfection and are required to complete a voluntary hygiene checklist.
Lee Sang-yong, head of the Health and Hygiene Division, said, “We will take the lead in creating a clean dining environment by supporting hygiene disinfection to prevent food poisoning, especially targeting small-scale restaurants that are relatively vulnerable in terms of hygiene.”
