Gochang-gun Appoints 29 'Youth Diplomats' as Part of International Exchange Program
On the 9th, Gochang-gun, Jeonbuk Province, announced that it held a commissioning ceremony for 29 youth diplomats at the second-floor situation room of the county office as part of its international exchange project.
The 'Youth Diplomats' project is designed to maintain continuous friendly relations through online and offline exchanges among youths from Gochang-gun and its international sister cities: Zhaojiang City in China, Shimanto Town in Japan, and Miri City in Malaysia. The project aims to strengthen practical exchange cooperation by expanding from administrative exchanges to the private sector.

Last year, exchanges were conducted in Chinese with two Chinese cities, Zhaojiang City and Taizhou City. However, this year, the scope was expanded to three cities using Chinese, Japanese, and English to provide Gochang students with more diverse opportunities and to broaden intercity exchanges.
The commissioning ceremony began with a joint oath-taking by three student representatives from Gochang High School, Yeongseon High School, and Gochangbuk High School, followed by the awarding of certificates and remarks from County Governor Shim Deok-seop.
The students commissioned as youth diplomats will participate in online chatting, offline letter writing, and promotional activities for Gochang-gun.
Governor Shim Deok-seop said, “I hope this becomes a new turning point for you to achieve your dreams as youth diplomats representing Gochang. I expect this to be a meaningful experience for each of you, and I hope you will strive to widely promote the charm of Gochang to the world as youth diplomats.”
Meanwhile, after the commissioning ceremony, a visit to the Consulate General of China in Gwangju was arranged to instill pride as youth diplomats. They toured the visa civil service office and reception room and had a meaningful meeting with the Consul General.
