49 Foreigners Enter Laos in the First Half of This Year
On the 6th, 49 foreign seasonal workers from Laos arrived through Incheon International Airport for the first half of 2024 in Cheongsong-gun, Gyeongbuk Province.

View original imageThese seasonal workers are the first group dispatched after signing a business agreement with the Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare of Laos on the 13th of last month to introduce foreign seasonal workers. They are scheduled to be deployed to 19 farms for 5 to 8 months of agricultural work.
After arriving, the workers moved to Cheongsong, met their employers face-to-face, and were assigned to each farm. On March 8th, they received education at the Cheongsong-gun Agricultural Technology Center on understanding Korean culture, worker compliance requirements, and how to respond to grievances and emergencies. They also underwent physical and drug tests and opened personal bank accounts, completing necessary procedures for living in Cheongsong.

Governor Yoon Kyung-hee stated, “We will do our best to deploy foreign seasonal workers in a timely manner to help farms struggling with labor shortages during the busy farming season,” and added, “I hope this will be an opportunity for both employers and seasonal workers to understand and communicate with each other for mutual growth.”
