Hamyang-gun Supports Artificial Joint Surgery Costs for Low-Income Elderly
Up to 2 Million KRW per Low-Income Senior Aged 60 and Over
Hamyang County in Gyeongnam supports the surgery costs for knee and hip joint artificial joint replacements to ensure a healthy and active old age for low-income elderly citizens.
The support targets medical aid recipients and health insurance subscribers aged 60 or older who require artificial joint replacement surgery (knee and hip joints). Eligibility applies to those with a workplace health insurance premium of 125,000 KRW or less, or a regional health insurance premium of 67,500 KRW or less.
The support covers up to 1 million KRW for one joint and up to 2 million KRW for both joints, including personal expenses such as examination fees, surgery fees, and nursing care fees. However, procedures such as minimally invasive surgery, robotic surgery, and reoperations are not supported.
Contracted medical institutions for surgery include Hamyang Seongsim Hospital within the county and 60 locations within Gyeongnam Province.
To apply, applicants must submit a diagnosis (or medical opinion) from the hospital where the surgery will be performed, along with a health insurance payment receipt (from the last month), to the public health center before the surgery. Surgery costs incurred before being selected as a beneficiary are not supported.
Additionally, there is a project supporting knee artificial joint surgery costs linked with the Elderly Sharing Medical Foundation for medical aid recipients aged 60 or older, near-poverty groups, and single-parent families.
