He lost the victory after making a bogey on the second hole of the playoff resumed at the 18th hole (par 4). This marks his third runner-up finish overall. The 2017 Masters champion Garcia has 11 wins on the PGA Tour and 16 wins on the DP World Tour, but has yet to secure a victory since moving to LIV Golf.
Garcia started with a 2-stroke lead and recorded 4 birdies and 2 bogeys. He cruised with birdies on holes 2 and 8, took a brief breather with a bogey on the 9th hole (par 3), and continued the title race with “stepping stone birdies” on holes 15 and 17. However, he made a bogey on the final 18th hole, allowing Burmester to force a playoff. After both players parred the first playoff hole, Garcia lost the chance for victory by hitting his second shot into the water on the second playoff hole.
