Seventeen Incheon Concert Draws Over 20,000 Foreign Visitors
36% of Audience at Seventeen's Incheon Concert Are Foreigners
80% Foreigners at Hangang Cruise Party and Lounge
The group 'Seventeen' (SVT) recorded that 36% of the audience at their concert held last month at Incheon Asiad Main Stadium were foreigners.
On the 5th, HYBE announced that 36% of the spectators at Seventeen's encore tour held on the 30th and 31st of last month at Incheon Asiad Main Stadium were foreigners. Among the approximately 56,000 attendees, about 20,000 were foreigners.
Fans from East Asian countries, including China and Japan, accounted for the highest proportion, followed by the United States. Foreign tourists from six continents?Asia, Africa, Europe, North America, South America, and Oceania?visited Korea to see the Incheon concert.
In particular, the proportion of foreigners visiting the Seventeen 'The City' events held around Incheon and Seoul in conjunction with the concert exceeded half. Among visitors to the Han River cruise party and Seventeen lounge, held as pre-concert events, the foreigner ratios were 80% and 83%, respectively, while the exhibition recorded 63%.
Interest in Incheon, the concert venue, also increased. From February 8, when news of Seventeen's Incheon concert was announced, until March 31, about two months after the concert ended, mentions of Incheon on various social media (SNS) reached approximately 3.35 million, an increase of about 150% compared to the same period last year. Domestic and international fans frequented nearby restaurants, cafes, and markets around the venue, revitalizing the local alleyway businesses.
To welcome foreign fans, Incheon City and the New Airport Highway lit the Yeongjong Bridge every evening from the 29th of last month to the 3rd of this month in rose quartz, one of Seventeen's signature colors. Seventeen The City videos were displayed on electronic billboards inside Incheon Airport. From the 28th of last month to the 2nd of this month, the Airport Railroad operated a Seventeen-themed direct train connecting Incheon Airport and Seoul Station.
HYBE analyzed, "We confirmed that Seventeen's ability to attract overseas tourists and gather crowds is comparable to large-scale international events. Recently, the Korea Tourism Organization and the travel industry have held roadshows in China and Japan and planned tourist courses and travel products aligned with concert schedules of K-pop stars, including Seventeen, which is not unrelated to this."
The lounge prepared by HYBE for fans was visited by about 6,000 people over three days, and the Seventeen photo exhibition attracted about 14,000 visitors from the 20th to the 31st of last month. The Seventeen pop-up store operated by Shinsegae Department Store was visited by about 35,000 people over two weeks.
Official merchandise sold at the concert venue, lounge, exhibition, and Shinsegae Department Store totaled 238,000 items. According to Shinsegae Department Store, the first pop-up in September last year increased first-time visitors by 75%, and the second pop-up this year saw a 90% increase in visitors compared to the previous year.
