Gwangju Seo-gu 'Environment Guardians' Children's Flower Planting Event Held
Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Kim Ikang) announced on the 5th that it held the "I am an Environmental Keeper" event, planting flowers together with children from the Seo-gu Office Workplace Daycare Center to celebrate Arbor Day.
Seo-gu promoted this event to emphasize the importance of the environment to children and to provide them with an opportunity to think about and directly practice ways to protect the Earth we live on.

On that day, the children planted 5 hydrangea bushes and 360 plants of 6 species including Shasta daisies throughout the daycare center, and brought recycled PET bottles from home to plant 4 types of eco-friendly crops such as lettuce, green onions, and perilla leaves.
They will continue to nurture and cultivate the plants they planted themselves and directly experience the value of the environment.
Park Chaeyoung, Director of the Child and Youth Division, said, “The flowers planted that day are expected to provide children not only with beautiful sights but also with a small garden in the city,” adding, “We will do our best to create a Seo-gu where future generations can live happily.”
Meanwhile, Seo-gu is striving to create a child-friendly city reflecting ESG values, and this year plans to promote the “Net Zero Practice Project,” which shares ways to practice carbon neutrality in daily life, and conducts educational programs and environmental campaigns related to energy, environment, and climate to create an environment suitable for future generations.
