Starting in 2025, Gyeongnam Province will operate the RISE project, a new university innovation support system that drives mutual growth between the region and universities, funded by an annual budget of 100 billion KRW from the Ministry of Education. Additionally, university financial support projects such as RIS, LINC, and HIVE, previously promoted by the Ministry of Education, will be integrated into the RISE project.
Participants discussed plans to commercialize the cultivation of specialized talent to lead Changwon’s strategic industries such as defense, nuclear power, medical bio devices, future mobility, and smart logistics; methods to supply technology and field personnel through attracting international students; establishment of professional departments related to the service industry; and the construction of a lifelong education system.
In the field of smart logistics talent development, Gyeongnam National University and Korea Polytechnic VII University are currently promoting new department establishments and pilot projects by Gyeongnam Province, while Changwon National University proposed the joint establishment of overseas study agencies by local universities, and Changshin University and Masan University shared cases of operating local study agencies.
