Jeju Coast Guard Conducts Arbor Day Event... Flower Beds and Office Environment Cleanup
Jeju Maritime Police Station (Chief So Byeong-yong) announced on the 5th that it held its own tree-planting event to commemorate the 79th Arbor Day, cleaning flower beds and the station environment to reaffirm the importance of environmental protection.
For this Arbor Day event, Chief So Byeong-yong of Jeju Maritime Police Station and about 50 employees gathered to clean the entire station, purifying both the environment and their minds. To mark Arbor Day, they planted young plum trees (Cheongmaesil trees), which symbolize purity and innocence, in the flower beds in front of the station.
Also, as the plum tree has been regarded by ancestors as a symbol of loyalty and integrity, they took time to strengthen their pride in the organization and their commitment to integrity.
A Jeju Maritime Police official said, “It was an opportunity for all employees to reflect on the meaning of Arbor Day and the preciousness of nature,” adding, “Like the flower language of the plum tree, we will strive to become a Jeju Maritime Police that is trusted by the public with a sincere and transparent mindset.”
