Yoon's Approval Rises 0.5%P from Previous Survey
People Power Party 36.0% Democratic Party 44.6%
President Yoon Suk-yeol's approval rating has stopped declining over the past five weeks and recorded a mid-30% level, according to a recent public opinion poll.
On the 5th, polling firm Realmeter, commissioned by the Korea Energy Economics Institute, conducted a survey of 1,506 voters aged 18 and older nationwide from the 1st to the 3rd (with a 95% confidence level and a margin of error of ±2.5 percentage points). The result showed that President Yoon's positive evaluation of his state affairs management stood at 36.8%.
President Yoon's approval rating rose by 0.5 percentage points compared to the previous survey. Negative evaluations dropped by 0.9 percentage points to 59.8%.
According to Realmeter's survey, President Yoon's approval rating had declined for five consecutive weeks from 41.9% in the fourth week of February to 36.3% in the fourth week of March, before rebounding by 0.5 percentage points to 36.8% on this occasion.
By region, approval increased by 3.5 percentage points in Incheon and Gyeonggi, while declines were seen in Daegu and Gyeongbuk (4.6 percentage points), Daejeon, Sejong, and Chungcheong (2.3 percentage points), Gwangju and Jeolla (2.1 percentage points), and Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam (1.8 percentage points), in that order.
By age group, the largest increases were among those in their 60s (3.6 percentage points), 20s (2.6 percentage points), and 50s (1.9 percentage points), while decreases were seen among those in their 30s (4.3 percentage points) and 40s (1.1 percentage points).
The presidential approval rating survey was conducted via automated response methods with 97% mobile and 3% landline calls, with a response rate of 4.1%.
In the party support survey, both the People Power Party and the Democratic Party of Korea saw increases, but the gap between the two parties' support rates was 8.6 percentage points, which is outside the margin of error.
In the party support survey conducted from the 2nd to the 3rd among 1,004 people aged 18 and older nationwide (with a 95% confidence level and a sampling error of ±3.1 percentage points), the People Power Party recorded 36.0%, and the Democratic Party of Korea 44.6%. The People Power Party rose by 0.6 percentage points, and the Democratic Party by 1.5 percentage points compared to the previous survey.
Other party support rates were Reform New Party at 3.7% (down 0.8 percentage points), New Future Party at 3.1% (down 0.5 percentage points), Liberty Unification Party at 3.0% (up 0.3 percentage points), Progressive Party at 1.6% (unchanged), and Green Justice Party at 1.4% (unchanged). The proportion of undecided voters decreased by 0.8 percentage points to 3.2%.
