Little Farmer Grows Little Tomatoes... Jung-gu Creates Vegetable Gardens at 3 Daycares
Jung-gu, Seoul, will create box-type gardens at three daycare centers so that children can grow crops themselves.
The children's gardens will be established at Dasan Daycare Center, Jungnim Daycare Center, and Aidaum Daycare Center, covering a total area of 15㎡. From spring to autumn, children will have the opportunity to personally cultivate lettuce, cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, eggplants, pumpkins, radishes, and napa cabbage. By observing and exploring the growth process of plants, they will learn the value of life and develop a sense of responsibility.
Experts in urban agriculture from Seoul City will visit the daycare centers from April to June to conduct lectures.
Children will naturally experience nature through their senses by observing the growth process of plants, including spraying natural pesticides and fertilizers and observing earthworms. They will also harvest the vegetables they have grown and try cooking with them, learning about healthy diets.
