Korail Holds 'International Union of Railways Asia-Pacific Regional Assembly' in Seoul
The International Union of Railways (UIC) Asia-Pacific Regional Assembly was held in Seoul.
Korea Railroad Corporation (KORAIL) announced on the 3rd that it held the "36th UIC Asia-Pacific Regional Assembly" at the Dragon City Hotel in Seoul.
The assembly was attended by Han Moon-hee, President of KORAIL; Fran?ois Davenne, UIC Secretary General; Philippe Laurent, UIC Asia-Pacific Regional Director; representatives from railway operators of countries including China, Japan, Australia, Mongolia, India, and Malaysia; and about 40 other union officials.

View original imageUIC is the world's largest international railway organization established in 1922 with the purpose of setting international standards for railway technology and sharing information among member countries.
Currently, 218 organizations worldwide are members of this organization. KORAIL currently serves as the chair organization of the UIC Asia-Pacific region.
At the assembly, Han Moon-hee, President of KORAIL, as the chair, presented opinions on strengthening safety and expanding influence of railways in the Asia-Pacific region. The agenda also covered next year's project selection, standardization strategy preparation, and the selection of the next executive team, facilitating smooth consensus among members.
Han Moon-hee proposed expanding the establishment of a safety culture and safety-related projects within the Asia-Pacific region, as well as strengthening mutual cooperation by promoting joint seminars with other regions such as Europe.
Attendees toured Korea's railway industry sites, including the KTX train depot located in Goyang City, and participated in cultural programs such as the "KTX 20th Anniversary Railway Culture Exhibition" held at Culture Station Seoul 284.

Han Moon-hee, President of KORAIL, stated, "KORAIL will continue to communicate closely with member countries for the joint development of railways in the Asia-Pacific region and will do its best to fulfill its role as the chair organization."
