Prosecutors Seek Seizure of 160 Million Won in Criminal Proceeds Preservation
The criminal proceeds amounting to 160 million won of former KIA Tigers general manager Jang Jeong-seok and former manager Kim Jong-guk, who were prosecuted on charges of receiving bribes worth hundreds of millions of won from sponsors, have been frozen.

View original imageAccording to the legal community on the 3rd, the Major Crimes Investigation Division of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office (Chief Prosecutor Lee Il-gyu) filed a petition for confiscation preservation on 110 million won and 50 million won received by former manager Kim and former general manager Jang, respectively, from Kim, the representative of a coffee company sponsor, and the petition was approved on the 19th of last month.
According to the prosecution, former general manager Jang and former manager Kim are accused of receiving a total of 160 million won from Kim between July and October 2022 in exchange for facilitating advertising contracts.
The prosecution identified that the two received 110 million won in October in the manager's office inside the baseball stadium in connection with a request to establish a new home run zone fence displaying the company's advertisement. It was also investigated that former manager Kim received 60 million won in July as a bribe for facilitating advertising on players' uniform epaulets.
Former general manager Jang reportedly conveyed Kim's demands to the team's marketing staff, instructed them to prepare a plan, and subsequently took measures to ensure various demands were reflected.

Former manager Kim is understood to have relayed Kim's demands to former general manager Jang and directly provided the contact information of Kim's company employees to the team's advertising staff.
