Damyang Rice to Appear on Czech Tables Following France and Austria
Export Contract with Czech Distribution Specialist... Shipping 20 Tons Monthly
Amid growing concerns among farmers and related organizations due to the continuous decline in local rice prices caused by reduced rice imports and domestic consumption following the enforcement of the FTA agreement, Damyang-gun in Jeollanam-do is focusing efforts on addressing the difficult rural situation through consecutive large-scale rice exports to Europe.
Damyang-gun (Governor Lee Byeong-no) announced on the 2nd that the ‘Damyang-gun Nonghyup Rice Cooperative Joint Business Corporation’ signed an export contract with ‘SHINFOOD (CEO Choi Jun-jeong)’, a Czech Asian food distribution specialist, and shipped 20 tons of rice under the local exclusive brand “Unsu Daetong Damyang Rice.”
This export is the second large-scale shipment to Europe following the initial export shipment to France and Austria on the 18th of last month. It is planned to export 20 tons monthly for one year to be sold at local Korean restaurants and other outlets.
Damyang rice is a nationally recognized premium rice brand, having won the Korea Premium Rice Award and receiving 8 grand prizes and 5 excellence awards in the Jeollanam-do Top 10 High-Quality Brand Rice evaluations for 13 consecutive years.
Especially since 2022, it has been loved by domestic and international consumers, exporting 300 tons to the Americas and Europe.

Governor Lee Byeong-no stated, “The Damyang-gun Integrated RPC, completed in 2022, has obtained certification for Good Agricultural Practices (GAP), an international standard applied to European agricultural product distribution stages, and produces export-optimized rice that meets the strict local customs procedures and local tastes,” adding, “We will create a prosperous rural community through market diversification such as expanding agricultural product exports.”
