A Nationwide Sports Competition to Be Held in Boseongseo

Boseong-gun, Jeollanam-do announced that it will host nationwide events such as the National Jangsa Ssireum Wrestling Tournament, Boseong Green Tea Marathon, and the Korea Optimist National Yacht Competition, aiming to become a stay-type tourist city attracting 10 million tourists.

The ‘2nd National Jangsa Ssireum Wrestling Tournament’ will be held for seven days from April 13 to April 19 at Beolgyo Sports Center. It is hosted by the Korea Ssireum Association and organized by the Boseong-gun Sports Council and Boseong-gun Ssireum Association.
The individual competition includes six categories such as elementary and middle school divisions, and the team competition has five categories, with about 1,200 athletes participating.
From April 15 to 17, the matches will be broadcast live on the ‘MBC SPORTS+’ channel. The event will also promote the ‘47th Boseong Dahyang Festival’ held from May 3 to 7, which is expected to greatly contribute to revitalizing the local economy.

The ‘19th Boseong Green Tea Marathon,’ running along the Metasequoia tree-lined road, will be held on May 4 at the public stadium inside Boseong Sports Park. The event is hosted by the Boseong-gun Sports Council and organized by the Boseong Marathon Federation and the National Marathon Association.
The Boseong Green Tea Marathon, consisting of full, half, 10km, and 5km races in that order, is known as the best course for marathoners due to its gentle slopes.
Those wishing to participate can register by April 15 on the Boseong Green Tea Marathon website (boseong.run1080.com).
Participants in the 5km category will receive running shoes as souvenirs, while those in the full, half, and 10km categories will be provided with a T-shirt or sunglasses.
On the day of the race, participants can enjoy seawater open-air baths at the Yulpo Seawater Green Tea Center operated by Boseong-gun for 5,000 KRW per person, a 3,000 KRW discount, by presenting their race number.

The ‘2024 Korea Optimist National Yacht Competition’ will take place over two days from May 4 to 5 at Yulpo Pine Forest Beach.
Hosted by the Boseong-gun Sports Council and organized by the Korea Optimist Class Association, about 100 officials and athletes affiliated with the Korea Yacht Association will participate. The competition will be held in two categories (Optimist, Topaz) across 12 divisions (elementary, middle school, general).
Additionally, free yacht experiences will be offered at Yulpo Pine Forest Beach to provide tourists with various attractions and entertainment during the festival period.
A Boseong-gun official stated, “We will do our best to prepare the events to widely promote Boseong-gun’s image as a sports mecca by hosting nationwide sports competitions in the first half of the year and contribute to revitalizing the local economy.”
