Incheon Namdong-gu Supports Fertility Checkup Costs and Assisted Reproductive Technology Using Frozen Eggs
Namdong-gu, Incheon, is implementing various support projects throughout the entire process from pregnancy to childbirth and childcare to overcome low birth rates.
Namdong-gu announced on the 1st that starting in April, it will newly support 'Pre-pregnancy Health Management' and 'Assisted Reproductive Technology Using Frozen Eggs.'
The Pre-pregnancy Health Management project provides essential fertility examination costs to couples preparing for pregnancy, supporting 130,000 KRW for women and 50,000 KRW for men. The main support items include ovarian function tests, gynecological ultrasounds, and semen analysis to detect abnormalities early and provide treatment to assist pregnancy.
The Assisted Reproductive Technology Using Frozen Eggs supports part of the cost of assisted reproductive technology up to 1,000,000 KRW per session, for a maximum of two sessions, when using frozen eggs for pregnancy and childbirth. This reduces the financial burden and helps enable timely pregnancy and childbirth.
In addition, to support infertility and childbirth, from this year, the district has abolished income criteria so that support can be received regardless of income level for ▲infertility treatment costs ▲high-risk pregnant women’s medical expenses ▲premature and congenital anomaly medical expenses ▲congenital metabolic disorder screening costs ▲congenital hearing loss screening and hearing aids ▲and detailed developmental examination costs for infants and young children.
Also, since last month, the district has started the 'Early Life Health Management Project,' which visits households with pregnant women and children under two years old to provide health consultations, child development checks, and health management education to support childcare.
This project aims to establish a dense health management system during infancy, and previously, the district was selected as the first in Incheon for the Ministry of Health and Welfare’s 'Early Life Health Management Pilot Project Competition.'
