Headquartered in the Netherlands, ASM is the world's number one company in semiconductor ALD (Atomic Layer Deposition) equipment. ASM Korea, the Korean branch of ASM, has been operating semiconductor deposition equipment research and manufacturing facilities in the Dongtan Advanced Industrial Complex since 2019, with an investment of 87 billion KRW.
In particular, the company has been investing an additional 135 billion KRW since May last year to build the 'ASM Hwaseong 2nd Manufacturing Research Innovation Center.' The city expects the center, scheduled for completion next year, to create about 200 jobs.
The city explained that CEO Lo's visit to Hwaseong City Hall was part of his global branch visit schedule ahead of his retirement next month and was conducted to expand cooperation between the city and ASM.
Mayor Jung said, "Despite international instability and the semiconductor market downturn, I deeply appreciate the bold investment decisions made during the CEO's tenure, which have helped Hwaseong City to leap forward as a global semiconductor hub."
