Incheon City to Create 154,000 Jobs This Year... Employment Rate Target Set at 68.6%
Incheon City announced on the 28th that it plans to create a total of 154,000 jobs this year, including 61,000 jobs in the public sector.
The city has prepared the "2024 Annual Detailed Plan for Job Creation Measures," which includes job creation across all life stages from youth to the elderly and securing high value-added future jobs.
With the goal of achieving an employment rate of 68.6% and creating 154,000 jobs this year, the city plans to invest a job project budget of 1.3595 trillion KRW, an increase of 38.8 billion KRW compared to last year.
On the 26th, the '2024 Incheon Public Enterprises and Excellent Companies Youth Employment Briefing Session' was held at the Central Hall of Incheon City Hall.

The city will create 17,000 "high value-added future jobs," including 13,800 jobs in new growth industries within the Free Economic Zone, 2,800 jobs in the startup ecosystem, and 341 innovative future industry jobs in AI, digital, robotics, and bio sectors.
Additionally, to strengthen the job safety net for vulnerable groups and citizens, the city plans to create 61,000 public sector jobs and 26,800 customized jobs tailored to each life stage. For youth, 11,000 jobs will be created to support economic participation, self-reliance, and startup ecosystem development.
Furthermore, to resolve job mismatches, the city will support a total of 12,600 jobs, including 12,300 jobs through improvements in employment service infrastructure and 276 jobs through activation projects of job governance.
Previously, the city established the "Comprehensive Job Creation Plan for the 8th Term of Elected Government" in 2022, aiming to create a total of 600,000 jobs over four years from 2023 to 2026 and raise the employment rate to 70.1%. Last year, Incheon exceeded its job creation target of 146,000 by achieving 158,000 jobs, earning the top award in the job disclosure system category from the Ministry of Employment and Labor.
