Hanaro Mart Restores Price of One Bunch of Green Onions to '875 Won'... Price Increase 'Withdrawn'
Second Decision to Maintain After President Yoon Suk-yeol's Visit
NongHyup Distribution Explains "Measures to Prevent Customer Confusion"
Seoul Hanaro Mart Yangjae Branch has decided to maintain the price of one bundle of green onions at 875 won for two weeks. This decision came just one day after announcing a price increase to 1,386 won.
According to Nonghyup Distribution on the 28th, Seoul Seocho-gu Hanaro Mart Yangjae Branch will sell one bundle of green onions for 875 won for the next two weeks.
Previously, Hanaro Mart Yangjae Branch sold one bundle of green onions for 875 won starting from the 18th, when President Yoon Seok-yeol visited. At that time, the store explained that this price was set by adding a government subsidy of 2,000 won, Nonghyup’s own discount of 1,000 won, and a government discount coupon of 30% (375 won) to the wholesale price.

In fact, the store had promoted the green onions as being sold at a discounted price supported by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs during an event held from the 11th to the 13th, a week before the presidential visit, at 2,760 won per bundle.
As controversy over the green onion price spread, Hanaro Mart Yangjae Branch extended the discount period, originally set to last until the 20th, to the 27th. Then, on the last day of the discount, they announced a price increase to 1,386 won per bundle, but on the same day decided to maintain the original price through their own event.
