'Illegal Filming' Golf Course Heir Sentenced to 1 Year in Appeal Trial... Sentence Reduced by 2 Months
The son of a famous golf resort chairman, who was sentenced to prison for illegally filming sexual encounters with dozens of women and was additionally indicted on charges including child prostitution, received a reduced sentence of two months in prison in the second trial.
The Seoul High Court Criminal Division 10 (Presiding Judges Nam Seong-min, Song O-seop, Kim Seon-ah) on the 28th sentenced Kwon (41), who was indicted for violating the Juvenile Protection Act (prostitution, etc.), to one year in prison, reduced by two months from the first trial.
The court ordered Kwon to complete 40 hours of sexual violence treatment programs, drug addiction rehabilitation programs, and imposed a five-year employment ban at institutions related to children, adolescents, and persons with disabilities.
The court stated regarding some of Kwon’s drug charges, “Ketamine was not detected in the seized electronic cigarette, so he cannot be punished for the act of drug use, but since Kwon himself believed the electronic cigarette contained ketamine and used it, he is punished for attempted use.”
Additionally, the court explained the sentencing rationale: “Considering the nature and frequency of the crimes, a prison sentence is imposed. However, some offenses were recognized as attempts, and some victims reached additional settlements, which were taken into account.”
Kwon, a director of the famous golf resort and son of the chairman of the golf course operating company, was indicted for illegally filming and possessing sexual encounter scenes with women 68 times from 2017 to 2021, and for storing over 30 illegally filmed materials from 2013 to 2016.
He was also charged with engaging in prostitution 51 times with university students and aspiring models, and twice in October 2021 with minors. Investigations revealed that Kwon used drugs while committing these crimes.
