Namhae-gun and Lotte Wellfood Sign Win-Win Development MOU ... Birth of 'Namhae Yuja Pepero'
Contributing to Expanding Market Channels for Local Agricultural Products and Social Responsibility
‘Yuja,’ a representative agricultural specialty of Namhae-gun, and ‘Pepero,’ one of the flagship products of Lotte Wellfood (formerly Lotte Confectionery), are coming together to create ‘Namhae Yuja Pepero.’
On the 27th, Namhae-gun, Gyeongnam Province, and Lotte Wellfood signed a business agreement at Namhae County Office for mutual development.
Through this agreement, County Governor Jang Chung-nam and Bae Seong-woo, Head of Marketing at Lotte Wellfood, promised to cooperate on ▲consumption and promotion of Namhae agricultural products ▲support for welfare facilities ▲tourism revitalization.
In particular, to realize the core brand value of Pepero, ‘sharing,’ Lotte Wellfood decided to promote the ‘Happy Home’ project in Namhae alongside the launch of Namhae Yuja Pepero. The Happy Home project has been providing play and learning spaces for children for 12 years.
This not only contributes to boosting sales of Namhae’s agricultural specialties but also provides practical support for the growth of local children, making the meaning of ‘mutual development between region and company’ even more significant.
The ‘Namhae Yuja Pepero,’ which will be infused with the refreshing flavor of Namhae yuja, is scheduled to be released as a limited edition on April 8. Lotte Wellfood has already purchased 50 tons of Namhae yuja harvested at the end of last year and added a tangy taste to Pepero through powder made from extracted juice.
Along with the launch of ‘Namhae Yuja Pepero,’ Namhae-gun and Lotte Wellfood plan to carry out promotional activities using various media both online and offline, embodying the meaning of ‘regional-corporate mutual growth.’
Additionally, from April 12 to 18, Lotte Wellfood and the Namhae Culture and Tourism Foundation will jointly operate a pop-up store at Lotte Department Store Bundang Branch to promote Namhae Yuja Pepero. At this event, not only Namhae Yuja Pepero but also Namhae’s tourist attractions and various agricultural specialties will be introduced.
The 12th ‘Happy Home’ children’s play and learning space supported by Lotte Wellfood is scheduled to be completed by the end of this year and will be housed in the ‘Dream Sharing Center.’ The Happy Home project is a social contribution initiative jointly promoted by Lotte Wellfood and the international children’s rights NGO Save the Children.
Bae Seong-woo, Head of Marketing at Lotte Wellfood, said, “It is the company’s duty to continuously pursue ways for regional and corporate mutual growth, including revitalizing the consumption of local agricultural products. Since last October, we have actively and continuously consulted with Namhae-gun to prepare more sincere regional cooperation plans, and it is very meaningful to see the results today.”

Governor Jang Chung-nam said, “The excellence of Namhae yuja is already well known, but it is also true that there are difficulties such as aging and a decrease in cultivation area. I hope this business agreement with Lotte Wellfood will help struggling farmers, provide play spaces for children, open the way for tourists to visit Namhae, and serve as a stepping stone for greater growth of both Namhae-gun and Lotte Wellfood.”
