Korea Forest Service Conducts Quality Control Inspections at Overseas Factories Outsourcing Plywood Processing
The Korea Forest Service will conduct a quality control inspection of overseas factories outsourced for plywood processing.
On the 27th, the Korea Forest Service announced that it will form a joint inspection team with the Korea Forestry Promotion Institute and KS certification auditors to inspect the quality control status of plywood at outsourced plywood processing factories in Vietnam.

Plywood is a representative wood product widely used in furniture, flooring, interior design, temporary construction materials, and packaging. However, the import dependency is high, with 84% of the plywood consumed domestically being imported from overseas.
Due to the nature of plywood, the use of adhesives is inevitable, which can affect public health. Additionally, considering the need to ensure structural stability when used as a building material, the Korea Forest Service explains that thorough quality control from the production stage is necessary. The quality control inspection of overseas outsourced processing factories is conducted for the same reason.
Earlier, since last month, the Korea Forest Service has been conducting special crackdowns to check the registration status of wood production businesses, the quality of wood products, and compliance with labeling for plywood and board products imported into the country.
