Gangnam-gu (District Mayor Jo Seong-myeong) will conduct a spring cleaning on April 2nd from 8 to 9 a.m. around COEX G20 Plaza in Samseong-dong, Teheran-ro, and Samseong-ro to remove accumulated fine dust and other grime from the winter and create a pleasant street environment.
About 1,000 residents and public officials, along with 47 pieces of equipment, will be mobilized for a large-scale street cleaning. Using 23 water cleaning trucks, 10 dust suction vehicles, 8 road surface cleaning vehicles, and 6 eco-friendly road surface sweepers, dust and pollutants on main roads will be removed and thoroughly washed with water. Bus stops, guardrails, and street trash bins will also be cleaned, and cigarette butts and other litter around roadsides, flower beds, and storm drains will be picked up.
Prior to this, the district conducted a public facility cleaning throughout March. Efforts included ▲removal of illegal advertising materials ▲maintenance of green belts and tree guards ▲cleaning of bus stops and bicycle racks ▲maintenance of street stalls ▲repair of old guardrails and snow removal boxes along streets ▲and maintenance of storm drains. Moving forward, the fourth Wednesday of every month will be designated as ‘Gangnam Clean Day’ to encourage residents to voluntarily participate in environmental cleanup campaigns, with a focus on intensively managing habitual illegal dumping areas within the district.
Jo Seong-myeong, Mayor of Gangnam-gu, stated, “We are conducting a thorough cleaning in preparation for increased outdoor activities this spring, including a simultaneous cleaning of public facilities over the past month. We hope residents will welcome a vibrant spring in a cleaner environment.”
