Seocho-gu, April 29-31 'Yangjaecheon Cherry Blossom Lantern Festival'
Seocho-gu, Seoul (Mayor Jeon Seong-su) and Seocho Cultural Center (Director Park Ki-hyun) announced on the 26th that they will hold the 'Yangjaecheon Cherry Blossom Lantern Festival' from the 29th to the 31st of this month along the cherry blossom path between Yeongdong 1 Bridge and Yeongdong 2 Bridge on Yangjaecheon Stream. The 'Yangjaecheon Cherry Blossom Lantern Festival' is one of Seoul's three major cherry blossom festivals, attracting about 30,000 visitors annually.
Seocho-gu has prepared a variety of programs so that visitors can enjoy performances, exhibitions, and hands-on experiences with the cherry blossoms during the day, and appreciate the charm of cherry trees changing colors with LED landscape lighting at night.
The festival begins at 6:30 PM on the 29th with the 'Seocho Music Festival' held at the Yangjaecheon waterfront stage. The opening ceremony features a high-quality gala concert by top domestic and international opera singers, conducted and narrated by Maestro Seo Hee-tae, and concludes with a fireworks show featuring a phoenix rising, the highlight of the festival.
From 2 PM on the 30th, the audience will be welcomed by a special performance by 'Dongchun Circus,' Korea's only circus troupe, often referred to as the Korean version of Cirque du Soleil. Until the 31st, the cherry blossom path will be filled with various attractions, entertainment, and food.
