Eunpyeong-gu (District Mayor Kim Mi-kyung) announced that starting April 1, it will implement the ‘Safe Home Repair Assistance Project’ to support home repairs for vulnerable households and semi-basement residences.
The eligibility criteria for the ‘Safe Home Repair Assistance Project’ include ▲vulnerable households with an income at or below 100% of the median income living in low-rise houses over 10 years old ▲semi-basement residences ▲low-rise houses within the housing performance improvement support zones ▲and rooftop rooms (legalization).
Vulnerable households refer to recipients of basic living benefits, low-income groups, persons with severe disabilities, elderly aged 65 or older, families with multiple children, single-parent families, and multicultural families.
Eligible repair works include ‘performance improvement works’ such as windows, insulation, waterproofing, and facilities; ‘safety facility works’ such as rainwater inflow prevention devices and operable security windows; as well as installation of safety handrails and removal of internal level differences.
The support scale covers 500 households across Seoul. It provides ▲up to 12 million KRW covering 80% of repair costs for vulnerable households ▲up to 6 million KRW covering 50% of repair costs for semi-basement residences ▲and up to 12 million KRW covering 50% of repair costs for low-rise houses within the housing performance improvement support zones and rooftop rooms.
Applications can be submitted in person at the Housing Division of Eunpyeong-gu Office from April 1 to 30. After document submission, eligible recipients will be selected. For vulnerable households, the total health insurance premium payment of all household members as of the application date will be checked against this year’s median income health insurance premium standard.
For houses with tenants, support is possible on the condition of a rent freeze and guaranteed residence period for four years through a rent coexistence agreement. Mandatory subscription to defect liability insurance is expected to ensure more stable construction.
