President Yoon Announces Enactment of 'Special Act for Special Cities' at 23rd Public Livelihood Forum
President Yoon Suk-yeol announced the promotion of the enactment of a special law for the four special cities of Changwon, Suwon, Goyang, and Yongin at the 23rd Public Discussion on Livelihood held in Yongin on the 25th.
Accordingly, Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam stated that the government's plan to enact the "(tentative name) Special Law for Special Cities," which will provide a support promotion system for special cities and serve as the legal basis for administrative and financial support and authority acquisition, is expected to be an important institutional foundation for Changwon City's leap forward over the next 50 years.

Mayor Hong Nam-pyo said, "To discuss the specific direction and details of the '(tentative name) Special Law for Special Cities,' we will actively cooperate with the Ministry of the Interior and Safety to secure substantial authority in organization, finance, and planning, and use it as an institutional foundation for regional development such as future-oriented industrial innovation and urban development," adding, "We will also actively propose changes to the criteria for special cities outside the metropolitan area to the government."
