Nissan Japan "Expands Global Sales Target by 1 Million Units Over 3 Years"
Japan's Nissan Motor announced that it will launch 30 new models, including electric vehicles, in the global market over the next three years, expanding its sales target by 1 million units compared to the previous goal. It also plans to reduce electric vehicle production costs by 30% by 2030.
According to Nihon Keizai Shimbun and others, Makoto Uchida, Nissan's president, stated this at a press conference held in Kanagawa Prefecture on the 25th. This is the first medium-term management plan disclosed after reviewing the capital relationship with France's Renault.
Accordingly, Nissan plans to unveil 30 new models over the next three years, including 16 electric vehicles and other electrified vehicles. The global sales target for the fiscal year ending March 2027 is set at around 4.4 million units, an increase of 1 million units compared to the fiscal year 2023.
Electric vehicle production costs will also be reduced. The goal is to equalize the costs of EVs and internal combustion engines by 2030. President Uchida said, "Facing extreme market volatility, Nissan is taking decisive actions under the new plan for sustainable growth and profitability."
By the fiscal year 2026, Nissan aims for an operating profit margin of over 6% relative to sales. However, the forecast for the fiscal year 2023 is 4.8%, falling short of the target initially set in 2020.
