Chungnam Election Commission Files Complaints Against Two Individuals Including Volunteer Providing Food to Preliminary Candidate
Suspected of Providing Food Worth Approximately 500,000 Won to About 30 Constituents
The Chungcheongnam-do Election Commission announced that it has reported volunteer A and voter B, associated with a preliminary candidate, to the prosecution on charges including providing food worth approximately 500,000 KRW to voters in relation to the 22nd National Assembly election.
A and B are suspected of gathering about 30 voters at a local restaurant in early February on behalf of the preliminary candidate and providing food worth approximately 500,000 KRW.
According to Article 115 of the Public Official Election Act, no one may make or allow donations for a candidate (including those intending to become candidates) in relation to an election.

A Chungnam Election Commission official stated, "Donation or bribery acts toward voters are serious election crimes subject to strict measures," adding, "We will continue to take strong action, including thorough investigations and reporting, against similar illegal activities in the future."
