Namhye-gun, Gyeongnam Province, announced on the 22nd that it will fully support Gyeongnam Marine Science High School in being designated as a ‘Contract-type Specialized High School’ promoted by the Ministry of Education, in cooperation with Gyeongnam Province and the Gyeongnam Provincial Office of Education.

View original imageNamhye-gun expects that if Gyeongnam Marine Science High School is designated as a ‘Specialized High School,’ a virtuous cycle industrial system can be established, starting from training high-level fishing vessel officers to ‘employment → growth → settlement.’
Accordingly, Namhye-gun plans to apply for the Ministry of Education’s pilot project for educational development zones, with ‘support for Contract-type Specialized High Schools’ as a major project.
The ‘Contract-type Specialized High School’ aims to nurture local industry talents, and the Ministry of Education plans to select about 10 schools by May this year.
Furthermore, if designated as a pilot project for educational development zones, special grants ranging from 3 billion to 10 billion KRW can be secured.
Jang Chung-nam, the county governor, said, “Gyeongnam Marine Science High School, which has 70 years of educational capacity in nurturing talents in the maritime field, is expected to strongly support local base industries,” adding, “We will spare no support in the designation and operation of the Contract-type Specialized High School.”
