A current police officer suspected of leaking investigation information about actor Lee Seon-gyun, who died while under investigation for drug use, has been arrested by the police.
On the 21st, the Anti-Corruption and Economic Crime Investigation Unit of the Gyeonggi Nambu Provincial Police Agency arrested a senior police officer A from the Incheon Police Agency on suspicion of leaking investigation materials.
The Gyeonggi Nambu Police Agency executed a search warrant at the Incheon Police Agency from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the same day.
A is known to have worked in a department unrelated to the Narcotics Crime Investigation Division.
The police plan to transfer A to the Gyeonggi Nambu Police Agency to investigate the circumstances of the information leak and begin analyzing the seized items.
The police stated, "We cannot confirm specific details related to the investigation."
Earlier, on January 22, the police conducted a search of the Narcotics Crime Investigation Division office at the Incheon Police Agency and a media company that reported detailed information about Lee’s investigation.
