BLACKPINK 'Shut Down' Music Video Surpasses 600 Million Views... 15th Overall
The group 'BLACKPINK's "Shut Down" music video has surpassed 600 million views on YouTube.
On the 21st, their agency YG Entertainment announced that BLACKPINK's title track "Shut Down" from their second full-length album "Born Pink" exceeded 600 million views on YouTube at around 12:55 AM. It took about 1 year and 6 months since its release on September 16, 2022, marking the team's 15th music video to reach 600 million views.
"Shut Down" is a hip-hop track that samples Paganini's "La Campanella." The sharp violin performance of the original piece is combined with a heavy beat. At the time, the music video, which had the highest production cost in YG's history, attracted attention with its overwhelming scale of sets and dazzling visuals. The song also became the first K-pop track to top the weekly chart on Spotify, the world's largest music streaming platform.
BLACKPINK has released a total of 45 videos with over 100 million views on YouTube so far. Their content's cumulative views have surpassed 35.2 billion. Their official YouTube channel has 93.2 million subscribers, ranking them at the top among all male and female artists worldwide in this category.
