Busan City Holds 'Busan Tourism Star Company Contest'

Busan City, together with the Busan Tourism Organization (President Lee Jeong-sil), will hold the '2024 Busan Tourism Star Company Contest' from the 22nd to April 19.
This contest aims to select promising tourism companies in the Busan area to support their leap into global niche companies in the tourism sector that will lead Busan as a global hub city. It also seeks to discover and support Busan's unique tourism specialization fields fused with various sectors to promote the development of the tourism industry and activate region-specific tourism.
The city aims to discover a total of 25 companies over five years and has been selecting 'Busan Tourism Star Companies' annually since 2021. Up to last year, a total of 15 companies have been selected and supported.
Companies eligible to apply for this approximately one-month-long contest include ▲small and medium-sized enterprises engaged in tourism businesses or tourism-related convergence businesses headquartered in Busan ▲companies with a business registration certificate that have been in operation for at least three years ▲companies with an average annual sales of 300 million KRW or more over the past three years.
Applicants can download the application forms from the Busan Tourism Organization or Busan Tourism Support Center websites and submit them via email.
Selected companies will receive a Star Company certificate and plaque issued in the name of the mayor. In addition, commercialization support funds and systematic star company development programs will be provided.
The commercialization support fund is 10 million KRW, along with various development programs such as ▲1:1 customized growth consulting for each company ▲investor exchange events ▲networking with related industries ▲support for market development. The star company status will also be maintained for five years.

Park Geun-rok, Director of the Tourism MICE Bureau of the city, stated, "By selecting five companies through this contest, a total of 20 Busan Tourism Star Companies will be nurtured," adding, "We will provide systematic support so that a unicorn company representing Busan tourism can emerge among the star companies in the future, upgrading the foundation of Busan's tourism industry to the next level."
