Nowon-gu, Seoul (Mayor Oh Seung-rok) announced that the 'Vascular Cleansing' project, which has been operated since last year by integrating MBTI (personality types) into metabolic syndrome management for the first time nationwide, is showing positive results.
Blood and body composition test results before and after the Vascular Cleansing program for 13 participants in the 1st session and 12 participants in the 2nd session last year showed improvement effects in over 90% of the participants.
Most participants expressed great satisfaction with the improvement in obesity and reduction of metabolic syndrome risk factors, especially showing strong positive responses to the personalized management services tailored to their lifestyle attitudes and personality types.
The Vascular Cleansing program is operated for high-risk groups diagnosed with metabolic syndrome among those tested at the Madeul Lifelong Health Management Center. This is to provide customized services to those who need management.
Before starting the program, participants first undergo a personality type test (MBTI) and a multifaceted personality inventory (MMPI2) to assess mental health and condition. Then, the test results are interpreted, and metabolic management methods are recommended according to personality types. For example, for the Leader type (ENFJ), group exercise is linked, and for the Activist type (ENFP), continuous positive feedback is given to encourage participation.
Participants join weekly group exercises with professional physical therapists, managing blood pressure through aerobic exercise and controlling diabetes through vascular circulation exercises from head to toe. They also take daily photos of their diet and biweekly exercise photos to upload to an online community.
If necessary, participants can receive one-on-one counseling, blood sugar tests, InBody measurements, and other interim tests. After the program ends, metabolic tests are conducted again to provide feedback on health data before and after participation. Additionally, self-help groups are formed to encourage continuous practice.
From the 3rd session this year, the district plans to strengthen psychological support programs such as for depressive symptoms and anxiety disorders. Since mental health affects physical health including metabolic syndrome, psychological lectures and individual counseling will be provided to create a stable psychological environment.
