Gyeonggi-do to Expand Operation of 'Cleaning Vehicles' for Road Cleaning Until the End of March
Gyeonggi Province will intensively deploy street cleaning vehicles to clean up road-generated dust by the end of this month.
On the 21st, Gyeonggi Province announced that it has designated 181 road sections with heavy vehicle traffic in major urban areas of cities and counties within the province as intensive management zones, and plans to increase the daily operation frequency of cleaning vehicles by 3 to 4 times compared to usual. Additionally, it will invest 4.8 billion KRW to expand the supply of eco-friendly cleaning vehicles, including hydrogen and electric vehicles.
During the period, Gyeonggi Province will deploy a total of 565 vehicles, including 23 dust suction vehicles, 79 high-pressure water spraying vehicles, 350 road surface cleaning vehicles, and 113 water spraying vehicles.
Furthermore, to remove road-generated dust, Gyeonggi Province will install fixed automatic water spraying devices called Clean & Cooling Road at 10 locations by 2026.
Lee Yoon-sung, Director of the Air Environment Management Division at Gyeonggi Provincial Government, stated, "We expect to reduce the concentration of fine dust caused by road-generated dust by an average of 44% through road cleaning. We will do our best to protect residents' health and create a pleasant road environment by intensively expanding the operation of street cleaning and water spraying vehicles during the spring season."
