Integrity Special Lecture Invited by Lee Jae-oh, Chairman of the Democratic Movement Memorial Foundation
Dongdaemun-gu, Seoul (Mayor Lee Pil-hyung) held a pledge ceremony and an integrity special lecture on the 20th morning, attended by about 60 senior officials of grade 5 and above, to promote anti-corruption and integrity awareness.
The district read aloud and signed a pledge expressing the determination to take the lead in realizing an honest Dongdaemun-gu with a sense of mission and pride as leaders of the institution, in order to create an honest organizational culture where high-ranking public officials set an example.
The integrity special lecture was delivered by Lee Jae-oh, chairman of the Democracy Movement Memorial Foundation. Chairman Lee gave a lecture on the theme of "Strengthening the Integrity Judgment and Execution Ability of Public Officials," citing cases on the main contents of the Anti-Graft Act, Conflict of Interest Prevention Act, and Code of Conduct.
In particular, he emphasized that “the higher the public official, the more they must take the lead in eradicating abuse of power and practicing anti-corruption and integrity for the entire Dongdaemun-gu to become honest,” based on his experience serving as a special minister of the Republic of Korea and chairman of the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission, highlighting that the role of executives is key to improving comprehensive integrity.
Lee Pil-hyung, mayor of Dongdaemun-gu, said, “The awareness and actions of each high-ranking public official can affect the level of trust in Dongdaemun-gu,” and added, “I hope this education will internalize the anti-corruption and integrity awareness of executives and serve as an opportunity for a responsible and honest organizational culture to take root throughout the organization.”
