Sacheon City in Gyeongnam announced on the 19th that a meeting to review the preparation status for the opening of the Space and Aviation Agency was held at the temporary office of the Sacheon Space and Aviation Agency, hosted by Lee Chang-yoon, the 1st Vice Minister of the Ministry of Science and ICT.
This meeting was organized to inspect the temporary office site ahead of the agency's opening and to review the preparation status and progress, including plans for creating an office environment.
In particular, it served as an opportunity to report on the residential environment improvements by Gyeongnam Province and Sacheon City and support policies for relocated employees, as well as to review and discuss the best possible measures.
On this day, Lee Chang-yoon, 1st Vice Minister of the Ministry of Science and ICT, Kim Myung-joo, Deputy Governor of Gyeongsangnam-do, Park Dong-sik, Mayor of Sacheon, and officials from the Ministry of Science and ICT, Gyeongnam Province, and Sacheon City attended.
Meanwhile, since January, the province and city have formed the ‘Space and Aviation Complex City Construction Preparation Team’ and the ‘Space and Aviation Agency Opening Promotion Team’ to accelerate preparations related to the agency’s opening.
Additionally, the Ministry of Science and ICT held its first recruitment briefing session in Sacheon on the 14th and has officially begun the recruitment process.
Mayor Park Dong-sik stated, “Together with Gyeongnam Province, we will do our utmost to support the successful establishment of the Space and Aviation Agency and the smooth settlement of its employees in the region, and we will work together to help South Korea rise as one of the world’s top five space powers.”

He continued, “I am grateful that after the Ministry of Science and ICT’s tireless efforts, the Space and Aviation Agency is about to open,” adding, “As a base for realizing the agency’s vision, we ask for active support and policy backing from central government ministries for the construction of the Space and Aviation Complex City.”
