Kim Tae-jin, Gwangju Seo-gu Council Member, Proposes Amendment to 'Children's School Route Traffic Safety Ordinance'
Kim Tae-jin, a member of the Gwangju Metropolitan City Seo-gu Council, announced on the 18th that the 'Ordinance for Traffic Safety on Children's School Routes' was approved as originally proposed in the standing committee.
The ordinance was revised to include necessary measures to protect children from the dangers of traffic accidents and to promote traffic safety on children's school routes.
The main contents include ▲ installation of yellow carpets and auxiliary devices for pedestrian signal voice guidance ▲ auxiliary devices for floor-type pedestrian signals ▲ matters related to the actual condition survey of children's school routes, among others.
Councilor Kim stated, “In the 2022 national basic local government traffic safety index results, Seo-gu ranked 60th out of 69 autonomous districts nationwide, and especially the traffic safety index for vulnerable groups (children, elderly) was ranked 62nd, remaining in the lower tier. We will continue to do our best to improve children's traffic safety.”
